The Snowy Walk

John 1: 29-34

Themes:

-How do you greet Jesus?

-Look for ways God meets you in moments of your day.

Malulabelle and her fluffy pup, Coconut, strolled down the street on a winter walk. Crunch. Crunch. Crunch. They made tracks and paw prints in wavy lines.

“Coconut, you blend in with all the white!” Malulabelle giggled.

“Ruff!” Coconut wiggled and wagged and tromped through a small drift.

An icy wind whirled. It bit Malulabelle’s cheeks.

“Brrr. Let’s walk a little faster, Coconut.”

“Ruff!” Coconut pranced on. He didn’t mind the chill.

Malulabelle daydreamed. She loved winter. But in that moment, she longed for the hot summer sun on her face. The smell of hot dogs on the grill. A refreshing leap through a sprinkler spray. It put a smile on her face. She felt like sharing what was on her heart with Jesus.

“Dear Jesus, I do love winter. But sometimes I feel tired of the cold.”

As Malulabelle finished her prayer, tiny snowflakes began to fall. A few snowflakes at first, like a whisper. Then, a wall of white confetti fell in a silent race to the ground.

Malulabelle and Coconut stopped. Malulabelle held out her hand. Several puffy crystals landed on her mitten. She brought them close to her face. Each was delicate and unique. Malulabelle had a new thought. She prayed again.

“Jesus, wow! What a beautiful winter surprise. This is your special creation. It’s like I hold a piece of You in my hand. I’m happy to see You! Thank you for meeting me, Jesus, on our snowy walk.”

Have you ever felt Jesus greeting you with a special gift? Jesus is with us throughout our day. We can find him in big or small moments. A soft breeze, rays of sunlight through trees, a baby’s laugh, a feeling of warmth and peace. The next time Jesus greets you, greet him back with a smile and a prayer. Know that He sees you. And He loves you very much.
