Rollerblades

Oct 4, 2026

God is loving and patient even when we are not.

Malulabelle slipped into her new rollerblades. They sparkled in the sun. Her heart felt as pink and polished as her skates.

“Watch this!” She whistled for her fluffy pup, Coconut.

“Ruff!” Coconut wiggled and wagged and pounced at her side.

“Weee!” Malulabelle weaved and wobbled down the sidewalk. “Un oh! Whoa!” Splat. She fell into the grass.

Coconut gave her an I-love-you-lick on the nose. Malulabelle giggled. He always knew how to make her smile. “Let’s try again.”

Teetering back onto her skates she pushed and rolled along the path. “Look at me!” she called to Coconut. But, oops! She tottered to the ground again. Malulabelle didn’t feel pink or polished anymore. She shared her heart with Jesus.

“Jesus, rollerblading looks much easier than it is. I feel like giving up.”

She took a deep breath. “This time I’ll take it slow.”

Malulabelle balanced on bent knees then gave a gentle glide. Left. Right. Left. Right. A spark returned to her eye. Left. Right. Left Right. Almost to the end of the block…

“Yesss! I did it, Coconut!” Coconut leaped for joy. Malulabelle crouched in for a tight squeeze. She had a new thought. “Coconut, will you pray with me?”

“Ruff!”

“Dear Jesus, I didn’t give up! And I’m so happy. Roller blading is like growing in my faith. Even when I fall, you are patient with me. You love me through my stumbles. Thank you for not giving up on me.”

It’s true! God is patient, isn’t He? He allows us to make our own choices, knowing we will stumble. Remember He loves you, and He waits for you always.
