Sunshine

Matthew 17:1-9

Themes:

- Seek renewal in the Lord and be energized with His love.

- Energy from the Son is like energy from the sun!

Malulabelle meandered along the winding walkway through the park. The sun gleamed in a bright sky. It gave her a shadow that made her giggle. “I have a tagalong buddy." She raised her arms. She jumped up high. She giggled again.

Malulabelle thought about her week, and all the parts she wanted to pray about. She settled on a little bench and silently shared her heart with Jesus.

‘Dear Jesus. Lots of things made my heart burst this week. The new ice cream shop opened! I found my favorite bookmark that was lost. I invited a friend to bake cookies...’

Malulabelle continued talking to Jesus, then paused. She noticed her shadow had changed. The sun had shifted. Malulabelle shifted too.

She raised her face to the sky, letting sun beams kiss her cheeks. In that moment she sat in the quiet, soaking in the warmth. She smiled. This gave her a knew thought.

“Jesus, sitting with you here in the sunshine gives me energy. Thank you for listening to me. What gifts will you give me this week? I will be listening to You too.”

Spending quiet time with Jesus every day brightens our souls. He gives us renewed energy to go out into the world to shine. You can listen to Jesus by sitting with him in silence, and paying attention to the stillness – or stirring in your heart. What is He telling you?
