Clouds of Worry

Jesus is right beside us, always.
Malulabelle gazed out the window. Clouds covered the sky. A light rumble of thunder moved through the air. Raindrops tapped the window. Her heart felt as drippy as the drops she traced with her finger.
“Looks like no morning walk for you again, Coconut.”
“Ruff!” Malulabelle’s fluffy pup, Coconut, put his paw in her lap. He wiggled and wagged. He always knew how to make her smile.
Malulabelle peeked at the potted flowers outside. She worried they were drinking up too much water and not getting enough sun. She shared her heart with Jesus.
‘Jesus, why has the sun disappeared? I’m feeling gloomy. The flowers, and Coconut, and I are ready for the sun to shine!’
Malulabelle reached for her umbrella and favorite pink galoshes. “Come on, Coconut! A little rain won’t hurt us.”
The pair stepped into the backyard. Coconut pounced and played. Malulabelle giggled. The air smelled fresh. She bent to check on the potted plants. They were perky and bright. Malulabelle smiled. This gave her a new thought. She shared her heart with Jesus again.
“Jesus, I can see you are taking care of us, even on this rainy day. You are like the sun, and my worry is like the clouds. Even though I can’t see you clearly, I know you are shining through my worry, taking care of everything. Thank you, Jesus.”
Think of a time you felt worried. Did you also feel lonely? Jesus is right by our side, even in our rainy-day moments. The next time you worry, simply say His name – Jesus, I need you – and pray for the comfort of His presence to surround you.
