Little Sunday Story: Shifting Sand
Shifting Sand

Let go and follow God’s will.
Malulabelle dilly-dallied along the beach - dipping and darting with the washing waves. She loved playing tag with the water. Thwip. Thwap. Squish. She giggled.
Catching her breath, she stopped along the water’s edge. The sand was wet and cushy under her feet. Her heart felt as smooth and soothing as the shiny flat sand along the water. She shared her heart with Jesus.
“Jesus, I love the beach. Are there beaches in Heaven?” She imagined playing frisbee on the sand with Jesus. She giggled again.
Malulabelle wiggled her toes into the sand. The water swished up to her ankles. Her feet were quickly buried. When her toes were still, the sand shifted around her, but her feet stayed above ground. This gave her a new thought. She shared her heart with Jesus again.
“Jesus, you hold me steady in my wet sand moments. When I wiggle and resist on my own, I become buried. But when I am still, even though I feel the sand shift under me, I know you hold me steady. You know what’s best for me. Help me to be still and follow you.”
Sometimes we forget about what Jesus wants for us. We “wiggle” through our day on our own only to feel buried in problems. Jesus knows we aren’t perfect. And he loves us anyway! Be still in the changing sands of your day and listen for His voice.
