Little Sparrow

God loves all of creation, especially you! You are known and deeply loved.
Malulabelle lounged in her backyard hammock. She swung high. She swayed low. She swiveled and giggled.
A sparrow landed on the branch above her.
“Do you want to swing too, little sparrow?” He rustled his feathers and flew away. Malulabelle giggled again.
She watched the little bird disappear toward the clouds. She wondered where he might be off to. She shared her thoughts with Jesus.
“Jesus, how do sparrows know their way home after flying all day? How do they find lunch? How do they not fall out of their nest during a storm?”
Malulabelle closed her eyes and smiled. She listened to other chirping birds nearby. She heard the leaves in the wind. Swish. Swish. She felt calm and cozy.
She opened her eyes and whispered, “Hello, little sparrow. Jesus will take care of you today. He created you and He loves you!” She imagined her whisper floating on the breeze up to the sparrows in the sky. This gave her a new thought. She prayed again.
“Jesus, you created the sparrows because you love them. You give them exactly what they need. You created me too. And I know you love me! Thank you for taking care of me, too, Jesus. And for gifts like the singing birds, swishing leaves, and most of all, my cozy heart.”
Jesus gives us what we need in the moment. We can trust in His love and care. Ask for His guidance and the peace of his presence. Share His love with others.
