Little Hike

John 4:5-42

-We are beloved sons and daughters of God. We are known and loved.

- Jesus gives us glimpses of his glory.

Malulabelle tromped along the treelined trail with a smile. Her favorite pink hiking boots kept a slow and steady pace. Clip, clop. Clip, clop.

The fresh pine air brightened her spirits. She hummed a tune as she stepped along. She daydreamed about her future and shared her happy heart with Jesus.

“Jesus, what a beautiful day for a little hike. When I grow up, maybe I will be a hiking guide! I would love to give trail tours.”

The quiet surrounded her. But when Malulabelle paused to tie her shoe, something else caught her attention.

Soft tweets and caws in the treetops.

Scampering squirrels playing tag in the leaves.

The soft gurgle from a nearby stream.

The quiet was, not quiet at all. This made her giggle, as if God had been humming a tune with her the whole time. She knelt near the stream and peered into the shallow, rocky water. She swirled her fingers in its coldness, touching her reflection. This gave her a knew thought.

“Jesus, You designed the birds, squirrels, this stream, every plant and rock. You designed me too! And we are a glimpse of your glory. You know my heart. Thank you for loving me, Jesus. For being close to me right now, and as I grow up.”

Isn’t it amazing to know you are designed by God? He knows every part of you. He loves you so much that He lives in your heart. Remembering that God is with us always can help us see the world through His eyes. We can be a reflection of His love and mercy.
