-Prayer opens a gate in your heart to a friendship with Jesus.
-Jesus desires for you a joyful and abundant life with Him.
Malulabelle and her friend, Emmy, raced up the grassy hill alongside the fence. They squealed and giggled all the way to the top. Little, yellow flowers bloomed along their path. They crouched down for a closer look.
“Let’s make headbands and bracelets!” The brightest flowers were near the fence gate. They swung it open to search and pick the prettiest pieces.
“These flowers look like little suns.” Emmy held the petals close to her face.
“Yes! Like Jesus put little sunbursts here just for us. Thank you, Jesus!” The girls lifted their arms to the sky and smiled. Malulabelle prayed.
“Jesus, I feel bright and happy, like the little yellow flowers. Thank you for my friendship with Emmy. She is a good friend to play with, and pray with!”
They settled on their bellies and worked on the stems. Weaving and tying, weaving and tying, until their chains of flowers were the perfect lengths.
“Let’s try them on!” Emmy and Malulabelle fastened on their floral creations.
“I love these.” The girls twirled in the breeze and giggled again. The gate swung back and forth, as if twirling along. This gave Malulabelle a new thought. She wanted to share her heart with Jesus.
“Emmy, will you pray with me again?”
“Yes!”
“Jesus, praying is like this little swinging gate. When I pray, you open the gate to your heart to welcome me in. Thank you, Jesus.”
There is no better way to strengthen a friendship with Jesus than to pray. Praying will open a gate to your heart too, where you can also welcome Jesus. What will you pray about today? Jesus is at the gate waiting to welcome you.
