Little Birds

- As children of God, we are a part of something bigger than ourselves.
- God takes care of every detail. We simply need to be present to Him, and open to receive His love and grace.
Malulabelle bound through the yard with her fluffy pup, Coconut.
“Watch this, Coconut!” She whirled around in a cartwheel.
“Ruff!” Coconut lunged and leaped behind her, then wiggled and wagged. He chased a pair of squirrels up a tree.
“Are you making friends, Coconut?” He always knew how to make her giggle.
Malulabelle spotted a bird’s nest where the squirrels scurried. She climbed into her tree house for a closer look.
“Baby birds!” She listened to their tiny squeaks and spied little beaks popping up and down from inside the nest. “They want their mommy, Coconut.”
Malulabelle felt a sense of duty. She offered up a prayer. “Jesus, these baby birds are so tiny and helpless. Please keep them safe while Mama Bird is away.”
“Here she comes! It’s lunchtime!” Mama Bird returned to feed her babies. They quieted as their needs were met. Malulabelle smiled. This gave her a new thought. She shared her heart with Jesus again.
“Jesus, when the little birds call out, they are cared for. This is all we have to do, too – call out to You, and you will take care of everything. We are like your little birds! Thank you Jesus.”
When we show up for God, He will do amazing things! Look for God in the little parts of your day – the sunrise, the breeze, a bird’s song. He is there, in the rhythm of nature, reminding you of His love that gives hope, and that He is taking care of everything. How can you be present to the Lord today?
