Little Bakers

Jesus is the secret ingredient to a soft and loving heart.
Malulabelle and her friend, Elly, burst into the kitchen.
Elly reached for their aprons. Malulabelle gathered baking ingredients.
“I love fresh baked bread!”
“Me too!”
The girls measured and stirred. Folded and kneaded. They twirled and high-fived with flour covered hands. Poof! A cloud of flour-dust made them giggle.
“Do you know the secret ingredient, Elly?”
“What is it?”
“Yeast! It makes the fluffiest bread.”
The little bakers left their loaf to rest and rise. Then, time for the oven! The kitchen smelled warm and comforting. It made Malulabelle’s heart happy. She shared her thoughts with Jesus.
‘Jesus, homemade bread is one of my favorite things. Thank you for this baking time with Elly.’
The girls watched and waited. One more peek! Ding!
“It’s ready!”
Malulabelle slathered butter and jam on a thick slice. Elly’s dripped with honey. They giggled again.
“Good thing we knew about the yeast!” Elly took another bite.
Malulabelle’s heart felt as soft and light as the warm bread. She had a new thought. “Elly, will you pray with me?”
“Yes!”
“Jesus, you are like yeast to our souls. Without you, I would feel heavy and flat. But the yeast of your love makes my heart stretch and grow into pillowy, soft freshness. Thank you, Jesus. You are the best baker.”
It’s no secret! A strong foundation of faith can soften your heart, like fresh baked bread. How is God kneading and shaping your heart? Rest and rise with Him, then share the goodness of your heart with others.
