Jesus, Make Me Brave

- Jesus did brave things for you. He loves you and is with you always.
- There are many ways to share Jesus with others. Don’t be afraid – be brave!
Malulabelle flew up the church steps. It was a crisp and sunny Sunday morning. She slung her favorite church purse over her shoulder and heaved open the wooden doors. Creeek!
Just inside, someone caught her eye. A man with tousled hair and wrinkled clothes exited out the side door. Malulabelle had seen the man at church before. Watching him leave gave her heart a sinking feeling.
‘Jesus,’ she prayed, ‘Does that man have a family? Please bless him today.’
The following week on the way to church, Malulabelle thought about the man again. He was there. This time sitting on a stone bench. His eyes looked tired.
Malulabelle’s curiosity about the man made it hard to sit still in church. She had the wiggles!
Malulabelle dangled her legs. She sang every song. She opened her church purse to look through her pack of Jesus stickers. She carefully flashed them to her friend, Lou, across the aisle. They both covered a giggle with their hands.
After church Malulabelle and Lou giggled again. They picked out their favorite stickers.
“Lou, have you noticed that man on the bench?”
“Yes, my family knows him. He is nice, just lonely.”
Malulabelle had a new thought. “Lou, will you pray with me?”
“Yes!”
The girls held hands. “Jesus, I know you are sitting with the lonely man right now. Can you help him to know you are there?”
The girls finished their prayer and had an idea that took courage. Together they approached him.
“Hello, sir. We thought you would like a sticker.”
The man read it out loud, “J e s u s L o v e s M e.”
His eyes crinkled in a smile. “Thank you. I needed this.”
As the girls skipped away, Malulabelle’s heart felt happy. ‘Thank you, Jesus, for my faith, and for making me brave.’
Have you ever felt the urge to share Jesus with someone? Perhaps you gave a stranger a compliment, delivered a meal, or offered to pray with someone out loud. Sometimes it takes courage to share Jesus. But remember He is with you. He loves you. Jesus did brave things. And He can make you brave, too.
