Positive Friends

Themes:

- The best kinds of friends in our lives are those who lift us up.

- Surround yourself with friends who have the peace of Jesus in their heart.

Malulabelle sat at her desk to write her English assignment. Write a paragraph describing a person who is a positive influence in your life.

The first person that came to Malulabelle’s mind was her friend, Gracie.

“This will be easy.” Malulabelle ruffled the top of her fluffy pup, Coconut’s head.

“Ruff!” Coconut shook out his fur, then wiggled and wagged. He was such a good boy.

Malulabelle organized her thoughts about Gracie. Gracie smiled a lot. This made Malulabelle smile too. Gracie was good at remembering birthdays. She was a wonderful listener. Overall, Malulabelle felt happy around Graice, and somehow, lighter and brighter when they were together.

Malulabelle wrote her paragraph, then paused with a smile. “Dear Jesus. Please bless Gracie right now. She is a good friend. Her light shines for you. Thank you for putting Gracie in my class, so that we can be friends.”

Back at school, Mr. Smith asked for volunteers to share their paragraph with the class. Gracie raised her hand.

“I chose my friend, Malulabelle.” Gracie smiled at Malulabelle across the room. “Malulabelle is kind, and is good at praying. Her prayers make me feel loved.” Malulabelle blushed. Her heart felt warm, like it was glowing inside her chest.

“Thank you, Jesus. I guess we are good friends to each other.”

Can you think of a friend who makes you happy every time you are together? Maybe it is their goodness, or the way they make you laugh. There is a special way these friends leave us feeling lifted in high spirits! When we surround ourselves with positive people, our light of Christ shines brightly. Say a prayer right now for the positive people in your life. Tell Jesus thank you, for the gift of their friendship.
